An elastic placer (or locator) is a small, disposable plastic tool used to easily hook and remove rubber bands on braces without damaging them. It features a hook on one end for stretching the band and a pusher on the opposite side to safely guide it onto the brackets. 

How to Use an Elastic Placer
  1. Prepare the band: Hook the elastic band onto the slotted end of the placer, or stretch it open between your thumb and index finger and catch it with the placer hook.
  2. Hook the top: Guide the band and stretch it toward the designated top bracket or button as instructed by your orthodontist.
  3. Anchor the bottom: Pull the band down and loop it securely over the corresponding bottom hook.
Removal: To remove the elastics, use the pusher end of the tool to gently pop the band off the brackets.
