Overview

Orthodontic (or "ortho") wax is a safe, clear, malleable wax used to cover sharp brackets or poking wires on braces. It acts as a protective bumper to relieve or prevent gum and cheek irritation. It is non-toxic, edible, and easy to apply.

How to Apply It
  1. Dry the Area: Use a tissue or cotton swab to dry the specific bracket or wire. Wax will not stick to a wet surface.
       2.Roll and Warm: Pinch off a small, pea-sized amount of wax and roll it into a ball.
       3.Press Firmly: Press the ball of wax directly over the problematic bracket or wire and smooth the edges with your finger
Important Tips
  • Eating and Brushing: Always remove the wax before eating or brushing your teeth to prevent it from getting stuck or accidentally swallowing large amounts
  • Sleeping: It is perfectly safe to leave the wax on while sleeping to protect your mouth overnight
